Chris's Dinner Menu Challenge *WINNER*

Post by emmapaige »

Random winner is Lisa (ScrappyDistractions) and points are awarded to the remaining 27 participants as well.  Thank you to all that joined my challenge!!

Welcome to the Dinner Menu Challenge.

If you have not picked your dinner choices, please go here viewtopic.php?f=350&t=261077   and pick your choices.  Please do not look down further in this thread before picking your choices.

I’ve included a couple of “twists” to this challenge to make it a little easier.

Twist #1:
Since you are at dinner with a loved one, you may decide you’d rather have what is on someone else’s plate.  You may swap ONE (and only one) of your choices.  For instance you ordered the French Fries (Stars) but decided that you liked the Baked Potato (Twine) better, you may switch the stars for the twine.  But please remember you can only swap one of the courses.  Please list your original choice and then your swapped choice.

Beverage:
Water - Misting or Splatters
Wine -  Mixed Media
Beer – Real or Faux Stitching
Soda – Decorative Border
Iced Tea - Banner or banner strips

Appetizer:
Buffalo Chicken Wings - Squares
Fried Calamari - Circles
Stuffed Mushrooms - Diamonds
Cheese & Crackers - Triangles
Veggies & Dip - Hexagons

Main Course:
Rib Eye Steak - Cardstock Background
Spaghetti & Meatballs – Patterned Paper Background
Shrimp and Scallops - Two Cardstocks Background
Chicken Parmesan   - Two Patterned Papers Background
Burger - One Patterned Paper and One Cardstock Background

Side Dish:
French Fries - Doily
Mac & Cheese - Hearts
Roasted Vegetables - Stars
Baked Potato - Twine
Sweet Potato - Tag

Salad:
Tossed - Something Green
Cobb - Something Yellow
Caesar - Something Brown
Coleslaw - Something Red
Pasta – Something White

Twist # 2:
Dessert: - Since desserts are such a fun indulgence, I’m asking you to pick your favorite (color, embellishment, paper, etc.) that was not listed on your menu to add to your creation.  Please list your “indulgence” when posting.
Cake
Ice Cream
Brownies
Pie
Fruit

THE RULES:

This challenge will be due by midnight on Saturday – May 13th, EST

Cannot be recycled (old) and cannot be previously displayed/published ANYWHERE
Cannot be entered into multiple challenges (ie: entering same layout in sketch challenge AND another challenge/fast scrap)
Entries must be posted to the corresponding Gallery (Chris’s Dinner Menu) to be considered to win - but please feel free to also post directly to the Message Board thread as well.
Open to all types - Traditional Layouts, Digi Layouts, Cards, Projects, Hybrid Layout

For my sample my dinner choices are Wine (Mixed Media), Fried Calamari (Circles), Shrimp and Scallops (Two Cardstocks Background), Roasted Vegetables (Stars), Coleslaw (Something Red) and Ice Cream.

For Twist #1 – I decided to switch my Shrimp and Scallops for the Ribeye Steak (Cardstock Background).

For Twist #2 – My indulgence is enamel dots (of course!).

just to clarify, for the shrimp & scallops 2 cardstock background.  does it have to be 2 pieces together in a single 12x12 area or can i do a double page layout?

I've never thought of that and no one asked the last time I did this, but I'm pretty flexible so that's fine if you do a double page layout for the challenge.

I LOVE my list of items, thanks for indulging us with dessert!! And oh my goodness, I just got a new set of nesting triangle dies.  I used them on a layout this morning........and I can  use them for Deanna's shape challenge.........and I can use them for my "cheese and crackers" LOL  I'm so glad I got them, they arrived just in time! Love all the options!  It's going to take me a bit to get it all organized!  Can't wait to get started, but it isn't going to be today, that's for sure!  I am not keeping up too well!
I am running away from my responsibilities,
and it feels good!

My menu was: Beverage , water, I changed it to Soda. I'm so not a misting person! Soda is a decorative border , I cut mine in half & put half on top & half on bottom.
Appetizer, cheese & crackers, triangles
Main Course, Burger, 1 patterned paper( from Are we there yet collection, my photo is on it) cardstock background, yellow
Side Dish, Mac & cheese, Hearts
Salad, Cobb, yellow, background and Arizona epoxy sticker
Dessert , my indulgence is the inking & torn edge

Okay, I am going to swap out my beverage from Wine to Beer (I really want to try out my new faux stitching items!)
then I will also use:
Calamari--circles
Steak--card stock
roasted Veg--stars
Caesar salad--something brown
For my indulgence, I am going to use stamps
Yippee!
