Scrap a Day, May 7th

The TEAMS meeting got canceled...we had everyone there but there was an emergency going on with someone and they all decided to push it back. Works for me.

Now just trying to get started with work...don't really have my head in it right now...

Don't you hate when meetings are cancelled especially if you put in a lot of work preparing for it.

Morning. Well high in upper 70’s today with sunny blue skies. Probably last high that low until autumn. The 45 day forecast has highs from 80-94! My sons set the auto time for the yard sprinklers to start end of this week. Sigh guess summer is about here. At least we don’t have the humidity too.

Got a couple challenges done yesterday. Hoping to do the same today. Maybe a quick trip to Costco too. That’s about it For this week. Since I have a bum knee on right leg and sciatica has flared up on left side, lol home is where you mostly find me these days. I do still walk in the evenings and then come home and ice the knee and put my heat thingie on left side for the sciatica. What a fun(ny) old woman I am. lol

Have a tolerable Tuesday

I hear you about all the pains us old folks have. As DH says, "If I knew I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself",

My plans for this week got totally turned upside down yesterday. I took Steve to the doctor here on the island yesterday and long story short by 2 pm I was putting him on a float plane to go to the hospital in Ketchikan!!!! He’s MUCH better today thank God but it’s a good thing we didn’t wait any longer.

He might get released this afternoon but might not be able to make the ferry today. If not he’ll stay with his brother or his son. He has to go back in a week to see the traveling urologist when they’re here.

Meanwhile I’m holding down the homestead. The chickens are NOT happy that they have to stay in their coop. If one or more get out of the run I’ll have a really hard time catching them by myself. Safer for all of us to keep them in. I did open the goose coop so Yoda and Mama can get out. They need to be able to get food and water and she’s laying in the nest of eggs that could hatch any day. So she’ll come out for a few minutes and go back quickly. I can get Yoda back in with bread and my plastic pipe stick. Lol!

So I’m hoping to get things picked up after yesterday’s chaos and then I’m planning to play. Not quite sure what I’ll start with.

And hopefully the gale that is coming tonight won’t knock the power out so I can keep playing. I’ve scrapped before with lanterns and flashlights when a gale came and Steve wasn’t here. Lol!

I hope Steve is home soon and he will have a quick recovery at home. I've been thinking of you guys because I can certainly relate.

Hey Cherries. Sunny today going to 78 degrees. I have an appointment early this afternoon and no other plans other than to work on NSD challenges. Yesterday I worked on the progressive challenge, then worked on the Mix it Up challenge and got messy. I didn’t like how that ended up so moved on to another challenge and that one is almost done. Will finish it up today and move on to another. That’s the plan.

Although I love the messy look on other people's projects but when I try it is more than just a little messy - it is a total disaster. I'm going to try it though before the deadline.    

I am too embarrassed to post my layouts for the simple reason of:  Compared to what I have seen, mine are not even in the same league as all the others.  So…. 

Please don't feel that way! We are such a great group of non-judgmental ladies. Some of are true artists (not me!) and some of us just scrap because we love the process.  I hope you post to the gally soon.  (HUGS)

My goodness! I hope you were able to get into your work like you needed! I hate when days get all discombobulated like that! Glad the pups are enjoying their toys! 

Yeah because if they had cancelled sooner, I would have just jumped into work immediately.

Work has been eh...keeping the pups busy is a full time job. At least they are enjoying their new puzzle toys. Even Miss Penny is working on them.

I'm having tummy issues again this morning. It might be time for me to see a specialist. But by 1:00 I felt better so I took a walk aside. I haven't been doing much walking outside because of those tummy issues but I managed to make it twice around the neighborhood. I'm working on one of the challenges right now.

Sue, PLEASE don't be embarrassed to share your work!!!  I can tell you we've all been intimidated at one time or another by the work others have shared both here and elsewhere.  But I can tell you from personal experience that is how we LEARN!    Start by doing the challenges you're comfortable with at your level.  I would recommend sketch challenges, Deanna's Make the Cut challenge and maybe even some recipe challenges.  I almost always look at what others have posted in the topics to get ideas.  And the gallery is a great place to look as well.  When I started scrapping about 23 years ago I had NEVER been crafty in my life!  I'd done some knitting but artistic stuff I was horrible at.  Once I started using sketches and challenges my abilities got stronger and stronger.  There are STILL projects that totally intimidate me but once in awhile I'll like something I see and I'll try to imitate it.  Watching YouTube videos and tutorials is also a wonderful way to learn.  So please come hang out and try new things and you'll be so glad you did!!!  The Cherries here are amazing and so encouraging!  Never a harsh word!    We're glad you've joined us!!!

Thanks so much everyone for your thoughts and prayers!!!  We both truly appreciate them!  We have a process we have to go through and God is DEFINITELY good so we'll just take things as they come and deal with them as we must. 

The wind is starting to pick up here so I'd better hurry up and decide what I'm going to create and start pulling stuff!   

And Yoda has not left the coop!  Like he knows something's up.  Are the goslings about to hatch???  I hope they wait another day or two for the weather to warm back up a bit...  Does he sense the storm coming?  Or does he like the cat and the chickens know that something's not right because Steve didn't let them out this morning?  I really wish sometimes that I could understand what they're saying!

Ginni, my husband and I bought a bird a year after we married.  We got 3 more.  3 girls, 2 boys; nothing happened. Then, a former boss gave us another bird (for free, with cage, etc.) who immediately ‘shacked up’ with one of the males.  Guess what?  We are getting clutches.  And yes, we note that there are changes in the parents if/when a chick is due.
